Fun and Frolics in the Cove - Engagement Shoot - Hayley and Sean - Images by Courtenay Photographic

On a beautiful spring day, the fabulous Dorset Wedding photographer Courtenay Hitchcock meandered down to Lulworth Cove to meet up with the lovely Hayley and Sean for their Engagement shoot.

Courtenay owns and runs Courtenay Photographic Ltd with his wife Laura. Courtenay is a highly experienced professional wedding photographer, with a very distinctive relaxed style through which he can’t hide his sense of fun.

He's also big Man U fan, loves being in the mountains, and is probably a little too fond of profiteroles and the odd single malt.

The stunning setting for the E- Shoot Lulworth Cove , was formed approximately 10,000 years ago by the awesome powers of a river and the sea.
It continues to evolve behind a narrow Portland Stone entrance as the softer Purbeck, Wealden, Greensand and Chalk exposures are eroded.

The Cove is a pebble beach, and by virtue of its natural protection is very sheltered.

On the day, Courtenay and the couple were blessed with an idyllic setting, and some gorgeous weather with wall to wall warm sunshine which they capatilised on with some fun and frolics!

What a beautiful day and with a couple game for a laugh and a bit of a splash about. The Cove is a stunning tranquil location for any sort of photography with exceptional views providing an exceptionally pretty backdrop.

Nature meets Style - The Wedding of Pete and Sarah - Images by Stuart Craig

On a Sunny day in September the incredible photographer Stuart Craig shot a beautiful Edinburgh Wedding that was bursting with vibrant colour and personality and style.

It was a short shoot with coverage of Ceremony and formals only but there is a lot of loveliness packed into those few hours.

Stuart is a wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland and covers weddings and civil partnerships throughout the country.

Stuart guides us through their lovely day,

"The leafy surroundings of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh is a favourite shooting spot of mine, being so close to my premises, and offering a great natural backdrop for photography.
Sarah and Pete had joined me for a pre-wedding shoot here a few weeks before, so I was looking forward to seeing the real thing."

"Their big day promised a memorable ceremony in the grove and a welcome splash of colour. I arrived with Agent Claire and unpacked the camera as the guitars were being tuned.
Roll on the jungle look."

"As folk began to gather in the grove I left Agent Claire and went searching for the bridesmaids.
They were hovering around the elegant looking Caledonian Hall, clutching their bouquets and looking as colorful as a rainbow."

"Pete greeted me outside before heading off up the path with his best man, turning only to acknowledge to some cheeky jibes from the bridesmaids."

"Sarah arrived in a cab a few minutes later, grinning from ear to ear and offering a fleeting look of delight."

"A few official mementos with Sarah’s parents and her bridesmaids passed the time as everyone gathered their thoughts, and prepared to make the walk through the gardens to the grove. The shoes said it all. This was going to be a lovely walk."

"Check out the Vivien Westwoods!"

"Sarah looked relaxed, and had us all laughing as she waved goodbye and threatened to do a runner.
The wedding co-ordinator briefed everyone on timings and led the way as the bridal procession began.
Sarah followed in her dad’s arms, and slowly came into view."

"The humanist ceremony got underway as Sarah and Pete turned to face each other. Everyone watched intently as some readings broke the ice before several warm stories were shared by the celebrant."

"It was great to be outdoors and have plenty of soft light to work with, and backdrop looked wonderfully natural.

The emotion and intensity quickly increased as Sarah and Pete swopped stories from their cards, prompting plenty of grins from the audience. The happiness was there for everyone to see."

"The weather was not going to spoil this one I thought, as the happy couple began to say their vows and exchanged rings. All eyes were facing the front as they were pronounced husband and wife, before the deal was sealed with a kiss and the type of look you only ever see between two people in love."

"A lovely shot of the signing of the register marked the end of the ceremony, before the celebrant stood in front of the crowd and invited everyone to spread love with a hug.
Sarah and Pete kicked it off, before the hug moved it’s way through the rows of seats. Myself and Agent Claire entered the arena and caught what we could from rapidly changing positions. It looked great fun, and made everyone smile."

"Sarah and Pete walked back down the red carpet together and led the way back to the Caledonian Hall for their drinks reception.
After a bit of mingling, we created a few family photographs on the lawn before retreating to mix with the crowd for some candid shots."

"I eventually invited the happy couple away for some one-on-one time, and led them back to the grove where a favourite spot lay in wait.
The bench played host to their intimate chatter as I moved into the trees, feeling somewhat like a sniper."

"We re-created some of the shots practiced during our pre-wedding shoot, and threw in a few new ones for good measure.
To be honest, they didn’t need the practice so I figured it would be easy to create the natural look with a bit of variety."

"With a classic looking portrait in the bag, we headed of to quiet bridge to take advantage of some early autumn colours and create some romantic blur.

The sun poked it’s head out briefly as they strolled down the path, looking quite pleased with themselves."

"Sarah and Pete posed against the wooden railing before getting down to business with some kissing.
They seemed very keen and I even had to shout ‘cut’ on one occasion!"

"The bouquet was duly discarded as it was clearly just getting in their way."

"A final stop off for a photo with a local tiger seemed an appropriate way to mark their occasion.
It was no accident that all three of them looked perfectly at home in their surroundings. This was their very own jungle look which had been such a great part of the day."

I am passionate about bright colours at Weddings, you can feel that someones love can stretch as far as a Rainbow and from the look of the happy smiles on everyones face, it probably could.

Venue Spotlight - "29" Glasgow

Walking through the streets of Glasgow, you stop in a picturesque square with a fabulous art Gallery, twinkly lights in the winter, a sprinkling of boutiques and there nestling in the corner is something quite unexpected but somewhat fabulous.

29 Private Members Club occupies 2 floors of stunning 19th Century blonde sandstone premises in the hub of Glasgow's vibrant cosmopolitan capital.

The area is internationally renowned for its spectacular architecture, contemporary shops, museums and art galleries.

The Club is not about over the top stuffiness and it's not about unnecessary formality... but it is quite simply, about creating an environment where people can unwind, entertain, conduct business and relax with family and friends.

I have been priviliged to host an intimate Wedding in the Club as well as the Big Fat Scottish Tweet up just recently.

From outside, you don't get to see the cavernous splendour of this amazing place with its extraordinary versatility for any kind of Event, but once you climb the stairs you enter into a whole new world.

The Supper Club is a stunning room with traditionally retored architecture, and a perfect blank canvas.

The glamourous Network Bar is a stylish area for holding a Wedding Drinks Reception or Event, and is effortlessly cool with it's bespoke illuminated Catwalk.

The outstanding Rooftop Terrace has been described as an Oasis in the midst of the City Centre, and is the perfect place to sit on sunny day and enjoy alfresco summer drinks, a corporate barbeque, entertain clients or Wedding guests during the Drinks reception period.

I had a chat with the awesome David Smith, newly crowned "VOWS" Winner about his work at 29.

"In terms of my role I see it as being the “face” of 29 Weddings – I go to Networking events, look for ways to increase our exposure to both potential clients, and to suppliers."

"All prospective enquiries are passed through me as I very much believe that in order to be an effective wedding coordinator I have to be involved with the couple as much as possible from the very outset.
Only then do I really understand what they want from their day, how they feel about certain aspects of it – traditional versus modern etc."

"Once I have completed the tour, I then prepare a full proposal for the day which goes over approximately 4 pages – this is something that sets us apart from our competitors, we definitely provide more information right at the outset than a lot of the other city centre venues do."

"As we work towards the big day, my role is really to help facilitate what the couple wants – so often there are things that a couple don’t want to talk about, or don’t feel comfortable talking about – especially when it comes to family politics – that I have to be able to pick up on what is not being said to give the couple the correct guidance."

"I am the person who greets the Groom on the big day, I meet the Bride and escort her and the wedding party to the venue and I am the one who walks the bride up to the ceremony and sends her in – that is probably the best part of my day – standing outside the ceremony room with the bride & her father, listening to the music and looking at the bride – you can see the moment of “WOW – here we go” on every brides face just before they go into the ceremony – that is a magical moment."

"Myself and the Food Beverage manager run the event according to the schedule – he ensures that all the practical elements are covered – staff are where they need to be, the room is set correctly and I make sure the Bride & Groom are comfortable and know whats happening – I'm the familiar face so its good for me to be about as that helps to keep the couple relaxed."

"On top of that I am also responsible for the website design and content, I'm working on a brochure redesign at the moment, and I keep the testimonial page up to date."

From my experience, David is a tip top facilitator , a very friendly face and extremely accomodating.
And every time I have held an Event or attended one, I have felt special as soon as I arrive.

Supplier Spotlight - Pen 2 Paper - Wedding and Event Calligraphy.

Beautiful handwriting on an invitation, a letter, or a certificate is always lovely to recieve.
Today I want to introduce the fabulous Norlyne Rosewarne who has made a career out of the exquisitely "written"word.

Calligrapher and creative lettering artist Norlyne lives in Perth, Scotland and has a background in Graphic Design and promotions,

I met Norlyne through Twitter a few months ago, and was lucky enough to have her on board to craft the wonderful name badges for the Big Fat Scottish Tweet Up.

I sat down to chat with Norlyne about her Business, Pen 2 Paper.

What is it you do, and what services do you offer ?

"I offer Calligraphy that's creative. A form of beautiful writing to complete one's Wedding and Event stationery, name place cards, certificate's and personal presents."

"There is nothing more disappointing when you receive a beautiful invitation, and the handwriting leaves one feeling disappointed after spending so much on the stationery!
I try and give the wow factor when one see's the handwriting to show care and thought has gone into this invite, guest name etc."

When, and why did you start your business ?

"I was inspired by friends to take my hobby of 20 years doing Christmas/Birthday card writing further.
Meeting the incredibly inspiring Michele Mone two years ago also gave me a push."

"I launched a website for exposure and work has gathered pace since then. Also for the past six months I have focused on making it a full time business due to other work circumstances coming to an end and enjoy being my own boss and meeting more like minded people."

What inspires you ?

"Seeing people appreciate my writing and calligraphy work and the joy it brings to peoples faces is a major inspiration."

What has been your favourite assignment, and why ?

"All my assignments have been a favourite as they have all been individual to the clients needs and requirements. Catering specialists, Wylde Thyme Catering and James Lansdale Catering have been very open to my creative work on menu's and guest cards and very inspiring to do such personal work for their clients."

Whats your greatest achievement ?

"The past six months taking the risk and market my business to the wider audience and set up and control my own website and establish busiess contacts through twitter.
This hopefully will gain some more established contract for work required for wedding and events in the future as my calligraphy work is individual and can only be done by myself."

Whats the future for your Business ?

"I hope to establish more ongoing work through the exposure of Twitter, and new website for larger Wedding and events and through working with wedding planners, event organisers, and Scottish tourism.

This will hopefully have them contact me on a more regular basis for work required as it comes up and offer their clients a added personal service that's individual and is a talking point than seeing genetically printed work which can be unacceptably dull."

Bottled Sunshine - Wedding of Leigh and Damian - Images by Mike Cook Photography

Sometimes photos can just make you smile so much that it can light up your whole day.
Despite the less than wonderful weather at the Wedding of Leigh and Damian the smiles that resonate from both of them are so filled with sunshine and love that its impossible not to grin.
If you could bottle happiness like that you would be a millionaire !

The fabulous Mike Cook Photography shares the story of the day and his outstanding images.

Whilst based just outside Falkirk, he has undertaken photography throughout most of Central Scotland - Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond.

Mike describes his style as relaxed, contemporary and documentary.

He looks for opportunities for images in the unlikeliest of places, and doesn’t get phased by things like bad weather – his spin is it just makes for more interesting photographs!

"I headed off for Bearsden for the first leg of the wedding of Leigh & Damien.
I kicked off as usual with the bridal preparations at Leigh’s parents’ house but when I arrive it all seems too calm – hair and make-up are just being finished off and we seem to be running to time – not the usual last minute panicking that I usually find.
This is great, me thinks, plenty of photography time!
So I do the usual detail shots (dress, shoes, jewellery etc.) before some shots of Leigh in the dress and with her parents and sister before heading off to the next destination."

"Off to Kilwinning in Ayrshire, destination for the ceremony at St. Winin’s Church. I make sure I’m at least 15 minutes ahead of Leigh in order to get some shots of Damien and the guys pre-ceremony."

"With those completed just in time, I’m ready for the ceremony just as Leigh arrives outside. There’s a real gusty wind blowing so it’s definitely hands on hats time for the ladies. Church weddings can sometimes be quite serious affairs but this certainly wasn’t the case today as Damien’s singing had everyone in stitches for the most part."

"After a short buffet in the church hall, we all headed off to Kilwinning Abbey, where we had planned to do the group and bride & groom shots. Although threatening for most of the day, thankfully the rain held off in time for us to get the shots, albeit it was a bit grey and still very blustery."

"With the shots complete, it was back in the car, this time, destination Glasgow for the reception which was being held at the Trades Hall in the Merchant City. Designed and built from 1791-1794 by Robert Adam and his brothers, the Trades Hall was built to serve as a public hall and meeting place for the city’s Trades House & 14 Incorporated Crafts.

Today, it’s used for a number of purposes including conferences, exhibitions and, of course, weddings, and it’s a great place for photography – a very grand setting indeed."

"With the cake cutting, speeches and first dance complete, I left the couple just as the ceilidh band had started to get in full swing."

I have been speaking to the fabulous Andrew and Rosie Woodhouse for a few months and was really chuffed to meet Rosie at the Big Fat Scottish Tweet Up.

I have also featured Rosie's work on Trash the Dress, so today I am delighted to highlight a new initiative.

Nod to the 60's - The Wedding of Katherine and Donald - Images by Stuart Craig

Today I am delighted to share the stunning 60's inspired Wedding Day of Katherine and Donald.

The images were beautifully captured by Stuart Craig who I have had the absolute pleasure to work with on two occasions and whose work I have featured previously.

Stuart is a wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland and covers weddings and civil partnerships throughout the country.

Stuart guides us through their lovely day,

"I had met Katherine and Donald a few weeks before at Peebles Registry Office and travelled with them to nearby Kailzie Gardens for a recce.
We had discussed the perils of a winter wedding, specifically the lack of daylight remaining after their ceremony.
Nevertheless, we had come up with a good plan to squeeze in their photographs before sunset, so I was quite comfortable with the prospect of a bit of speed shooting and a race against the clock."

"The boys arrived first, looking confident and ready for a standing start."

"Katherine arrived on foot a few minutes later. We had decided to front load some of their photographs to before the ceremony, so I was pleased to catch them together for some traditional portraits."

"Katherine was wearing a striking red coat which added a splash of colour and helped conceal her wedding dress.
Their guests were arriving in force by now, and they gathered round to watch as the happy couple smiled for the cameras.
The clock was ticking, but the images were coming easily and the focus soon turned to the fast approaching ceremony.
Everyone gathered inside the council chambers as the piper added to the sense of occasion with a traditional soundtrack."

"The registrar suddenly announced their arrival, and Katherine and Donald walked down the short aisle to take their place beside a huge table.
They turned to face each other to begin saying their vows, before exchanging rings in front of all their family and friends."

"The registrar brought the ceremony to a climax, inviting the happy couple to kiss. Katherine could only laugh at the lipstick marks left on poor Donald’s face. A messy business!"

"Still grinning, Katherine and Donald walked arm in arm back down the aisle and straight out to the quaint courtyard which would host a selection of family photographs. The piper watched on as everyone took their turn, before he too joined in for a momento. The cream walls and wooden benches provided the perfect backdrop for a kiss in front of the crowd. The clock was still ticking, but the race was being won."

"Everyone relaxed in the courtyard as the coaches pulled up to transport us to nearby Kailzie Gardens.
I followed in the bridemobile and made my way into the reception room where the tables had been beautifully setup.
By now it was dark, but the warm fire and candlelight added a warm glow to the room which would host the speeches and wedding breakfast."

"The dimly lit barn consisted of an authentic looking table with wooden benches.
Katherine came up with the idea of arm wrestling, which I thought was amusing and perfect for the setting.
They grimaced and laughed their way through some ambitious long exposures, before kissing to make up in front of the camera.
It looked instantly cool, and is surely a great way to settle any potential arguments on your wedding day."

"The speeches got underway as soon as everyone got seated, starting with Katherine’s dad who set the standard high after warning everyone that he is a lecturer.
Donald’s dad joined in and by now the jokes were flowing effortlessly. The happy couple stood up to say their own thank you’s, and threw in a few amusing stories of their own.
It suddenly reminded me to check the clock and reflect on what a warm, genuine couple they are to be around. Isn’t it funny how time always seems to fly by when you are having fun."

I really like the subtle 60's nod and the Brides exquisite short gown and headband, she looks radiant alongside her kilted groom.

Jay shares her recollections of the recent Wedding of Rob and Dottie which took place on the 11th of September this year.

"Shortly after I launched myself as a photographer I was approached by my lovely web host Rob to do his Wedding Photography."

"I was absolutely thrilled to be asked, and even more excited when I found out when I found out they were based in the Channel Islands."

"I'd never met Rob or his Polish wife to be Dottie before, but we spent a lot of time emailing, and I loved the fact that he wanted a really laid back day and I love the way I have been able to share that in the images."

"The Wedding took place in St Mary's Parish Church, Jersey followed by marquee in St Mary's Community Centre, in Jersey. Lots of Polish traditions were tied into the day in view of the Brides heritage."

And finally on the culmination of an absolutely gorgeous day, a photo with the lady behind the lens.

Grungy Urban Rock The Frock Collaboration - Images by Rob Grimes Photography

Today I excited to share this awesome Rock your Frock photo shoot, shot in the backdrop of Birmingham's grunge and urban areas of Digbeth and the Custard Factory.

In the Summer of 2011 a small band of mercenary photographers were chatting via Twitter.

The 3 Musketeers (Rob Grimes, Adrian Jones & the Jay Mountford) were talking of global domination and future photo shoots.
After a brief flurry of brainwaves a plan was set, a location chosen and a date and time set firmly in place

The 3 Musketeers were armed with a idea of rocking their way around Birmingham's urban areas with a bride, dress and two creative minded photographers, a few lenses, flash guns and graffiti fun....

After a brief chat, led by the amazing Adrian Jones (creative genius) and assisted by the stunning Bride Jay Mountford and with fabulous Rob sipping his latte, the plan was set and before they knew it, it was a case of "Lights, Camera, Action" and few admiring drivers beeping their horns!

Rob says "I think I could rabbit on and on about what happened from the start to finish, but it Rocked, no in fact we Rocked, the Bride Rocked, Ade Rocked, I was Rocking, Birmingham Rocked and even the Police joined in all the Rock & Roll, I even heard of people in Hong Kong Rocking with the events unfolding in Birmingham."

"We Rocked that much, we had to go to the pub to celebrate into the midnight hours!
So without further ado, I give to you Ladies and Gentleman, a big "Yay for Jay" and the {Rock your Frock} photo shoot."

Today I am delighted to share the awesome Vintage inspired Tea Room Wedding of Richie and Fai from the lens of the lovely Yvonne White of White Gold Images.

Yvonne has been taking pictures since her parents bought her a film camera some 30 years ago.
Since then its been an on/off love affair, time and finance allowing, but she has been doing it professionally for over 5 years.

She realised a couple of years ago while looking through 40 year old pictures in a loft, that people and places are what future generations look back on, so Yvonne started to concentrate on people, moving into Portraiture and then progressing onto Wedding Photography.

Yvonne is the principal photographer, but shares the business with her partner Jonathan Gold, and covers most of the South East of England.

Yvonne shares her recollections of the couples fabulous day,

"Fai and Richie both live and work locally in the music industry, and Fai is a huge fan of all things 40's and 50's."

"They have been together many years and have a son and didn't want a formal style wedding, so no sit down breakfast, speeches or first dance, just a simple register office ceremony followed by a huge celebration with close friends and family at the Waggon & Horses in Elstree, Nr Radlett, Herts.
This lovely old pub boasts a 1940's tearoom, a perfect compliment to Fai's choice of tea length dress."

"The whole day was about having fun and celebrating and I tried to capture that in the images of this wonderful couple."

I love the vibrancy of the really bright colours and just the overwhelming sense of fun, relaxation and laughter.

This proves you don't have to have the huge wedding, and that small and intimate can be really beautiful.

Happy Smiles to Happy Dance - Wedding of Kate and Morven - Images by Emma Case

Today I am thrilled to welcome the EPIC Emma Case to the Blog.
Emma likes to think of herself as an alternative wedding photographer and specialises in shooting couples who want to do things a bit differently.

Emma shares how she got into the Photography Business, and also shares some of her incredibkle work with the Wedding of Kate and Morven.

Emma says "Pete, my boyfriend gave me my first DSLR on Christmas Day 2008.
On Boxing Day, he proposed.
I began to research things for our wedding and in the UK just couldn't find the kind of wedding photography that I had in my head.. but, what I did find was a world of American weddings and photographers that just completely sucked me in."

"They were natural and fun and relaxed and completely exciting and full of emotion... wow... I wanted to take photos like that. So I became a complete photography nerd.. reading blogs, watching tutorials... just soaking up as much as I could.... two friend's weddings later and my very own little photography business began... me taking the pictures that I had in my head :)"

3 years later, Boyfriend is now husband and Emma runs an extraordinarly successful Business and today shares a lovely June Wedding that she shot.

"Kate and Morv are one of my couples who I'd not met before their day...
Many an email back and forth meant that I knew they were both ace, but it's always a little bit nerve wracking and exciting turning up in the morning."

"We arrived at the beautiful Buxted Park Hotel in East Sussex with the weather a little bit indecisive whether it wanted to rain or stay dry.
There was a bustle to the hotel with guests checking in and staff getting the ceremony room ready... and as I walked up to the room I was greeted by the adorable Kate... (seriously.. how beautiful is she!) and her equally gorgeous Mum and two sisters.
Kate showed me her beautiful Rachel Simpson shoes, her stunning Jenny Packham dress and headpiece and this little photographer was in elegant bride heaven!"

"Downstairs Morvan, his Best man and Usher were on duty meeting guests and as we moved closer towards the ceremony time everyone took their seats awaiting the arrival of Kate and her bridesmaids..."

"The ceremony was brilliant.
A wonderfully relaxed, warm and with so much love... you could honestly feel the smiles radiating from everyone.. and Morv's vows were possibly the best vows I've ever heard.. (a small poem that rhymed and mentioned Kate's cooking skills).
They were announced Husband and wife and as they descended down the aisle, members of their family danced behind them."

"The afternoon was filled with drinks, canapes, some very funny formals and a lovely couple shoot around the grounds of the hotel and then everyone sat down ready for speeches and the wedding breakfast."

"Now I'm rushing through this a little bit as I'm heading towards the evening where I properly cried.. like, overwhelming crying.
You see Kate's family are Jewish and although the wedding wasn't a traditional Jewish wedding there was definitely one tradition that happened and I LOVED it."

"The evening reception started, the DJ began to play some tunes and as we were doing the photo booth Kate came in and said "Emma, we're gonna do the chair thing'.. 'Great' I said and headed to the dancefloor..."

"All of a sudden the Jewish folk song came, on and everyone ran onto the dancefloor and started doing the Hora.. dancing in circles at such a pace and I squeezed into the middle and began snapping away.
Then two chairs were placed on to the dancefloor and Kate and Morv were sat on them and lifted to the roof and as they were holding hands they were danced around the floor by their guests."

"The atmosphere was so electric with the music and everyone's energy I was literally crying as I was shooting.. it was such a wonderful experience full of love, freedom and happiness.... I will never forget it."

"Thank you Kate and Morv for letting us share your day... we loved you both and your whole family (and a huge soft spot for your lovely Grandad). It was such an absolute pleasure to see two families having so much fun and really showing the love.. I think that's what all weddings should be about."

Love the delicacy of the initial photographs through to bolder images and then the vibrancy and colours with a cultural twist with the evening shots.

How did you meet?

"With me being Australian and Andy from South Africa it was inevitable that London would be where we met!
We met like most people – boy likes girl, girl likes boy…although ours just happened to involve a laptop!"

Tell us about your Engagement

"Andy proposed to me at his parent’s house in South Africa.
He had previously asked my family’s permission prior to the holiday so they were anxiously waiting for the phone call!
The proposal took me completely by surprise but it was the perfect moment with just the two of us.
I wasn’t expecting it at all, and he gave me his grandmother’s ring as the engagement ring which meant a lot."

Tell me about your Planning journey.

"It was very difficult planning a wedding in Australia while living in London, and you need to be very organized and very patient!
As an Event Manager I’m use to organizing international events and liaising with suppliers, however organizing a wedding from another country is a whole different ball game."

"After deciding the date, the first thing we wanted to do was find a venue.
With nearly two years until the wedding, we thought we had plenty of time, however good venues in Brisbane book quickly so it was imperative that we got this done immediately."

"Luckily my parents lived in Brisbane so were able to visit the venues and take photos for us. This was really important as the photos on a website can be a lot different in person.
I also wanted a unique venue with a bit of character, rather than an event space in a hotel as I have organized so many work events in rooms like these!"

"We eventually chose Hillstone St Lucia for it’s beautiful scenery and the event space, which is in a lovely old house known as a Queenslander – a colonial-style house synonymous with Brisbane, where I grew up. However before signing the contract, I also researched on blogs and forums on feedback about the venue."

"From there everything seemed to fall in place.
We were able to visit the venue a year before and make final preparations for the day including menu and wine tasting.
While we were in Brisbane we also chose the cake and finalized details with the church."

"Back in London I discovered an amazing UK-Based wedding stationer – Pink & Blue.
They were fantastic and very helpful, creating bespoke designs for us which made it easy to pack the print work for the journey to Australia.
We also researched extensively into photographers as I had heard some nightmare stories!
But having swapped emails for a few weeks and spoken on the phone, we chose Ben Clark and he didn’t disappoint!"

"We also discovered a local Brisbane Florist who was brilliant!
She was able to see my vision clearly, despite only corresponding through email, and liaised directly with the church and venue regarding the wedding flowers which saved me a lot of time and effort!"

"In the last few weeks everything fell into place, we arrived in Brisbane the week prior to the wedding and had a lot of loose ends to tie up including my hair/make up trial, meeting the photographer and meetings with the church and reception venue but in the end it all turned out perfectly!"

To bring everything to a close Jasmine has the last word,

"Obviously we had a few more things to consider in the wedding planning then most as we were getting married in Australia, such as getting the dress on the plane, flights, etc but it was all worth it!"

"If you’d asked me a week before the wedding, I would have said that I wish I organized an English wedding, but looking back – it was the perfect day.
From the weather to the venue, flowers and photography, everything worked brilliant and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!"
"My only advice for anyone wishing to organize a wedding in another country is be patient – that is the key to organized wedding planning!"

Today I am thrilled to share the wonderful work of Mette Baillie of Freja Fashion.
Think silk, taffeta, chiffon and lace, and somewhere and someone who can make a bespoke gown just the way you imagine it.
From designing her first dresses as a child, to Danish fashion houses, to a love that led her to Edinburgh to the award winning designer you see today, Mette has been on an incredible journey.

I had a chat to Mette to find out a little bit about her.

What is it you do, and what services do you offer ?

"I run a small design studio in the Centre of Edinburgh New Town. I am a couture designer and have a very skilled team of four dressmakers to help me."

"Our core business is wedding dresses, which we design and make.
We also design and make Mother of the bride/groom outfits, bridesmaids dresses and gowns for flower girls, and have much repeat custom, with customers coming back to have pieces made throughout the year."

When, and why did you start your Business ?

"I started my business 11 years ago. I had a degree from Denmark and I had worked temporarily in England pattern cutting and designing for a company making ladies wear for Marks & Spencer."

"From that time I knew I wanted to make individual pieces... rather than thousands for M&S.
My training was based on couture techniques. I researched the subject and found that there were not many companies offering this kind of service."

"In the UK there are a lot of fashion graduates, but mainly aimed towards industry and not the more artisan way of working with fashion, which is prevalent in Europe, and in years gone by was a UK standard."

What inspires you ?

"I love period clothes, and also the different subcultures and how they communicate through clothes.
Clothes have their own language, and we can’t help but communicate and express ourselves via our clothes.
Fashion has a voice."

"Many things inspire me whether an old drawing, embroidery, colours in the forest, and on the beach.
Basically all sorts of things become inspiration for my work."

What has been your favourite assignment, and why ?

"I am so so fortunate to get a lot of very interesting assignments from very inspiring clever and beautiful ladies."

"The thing I always think of when I get asked that question is a dress I was asked to make not long after I set up my own business.
I was asked to make a dress for Prince Williams 21st birthday. It wasn’t because it was a royal event, (there has been many since, and there was a couple before) but because the inspiration was Karen Blixen.
This lady was my idol."

"Karen is a Danish Author who lived on her farm in Kenya. ( she was played by Meryl Streep in the film Out of Africa)
I love all of Karen work, and was so excited by this commission.
I made a lovely wool crepe strapless evening dress, with silk satin trimmings and collar and cuffs of black oily feathers.. it was a lovely, timeless piece and very African indeed."

Whats your greatest achievement ?

"I think running your own business gives great achievements every day....but the biggest achievement I think is that we have been nominated 4 years in a row for the VOWS awards."

"I know what is behind giving consistent good customer service, including the development of my staff and seeing them grow as dressmakers, customer service assistants and great citizens."

Whats the future for your Business ?

"Fingers crossed we are going to bigger premises over the winter if plans fall into place.. and winning the VOWS this year would just be the icing on the cake!"

A new concept in reception catering can offer a bespoke cake that is unique, fresh, style and memorable. Now every bride can feel like a princess or part of Hollywood royalty.

Launched in 2005 by Marie Sinclair and based in Hertfordshire, Genuine Cakes bake and decorate cakes for all occasions specializing in Wedding Cakes as well as Birthday Cakes, Christening Cakes and Anniversary Cakes, to name but a few.

Today I am really excited to share the Wedding Of Robin and Dawn, beautifully captured by Natalie.J.Weddings.

From getting her first camera from Santa at 7 years old, to her leap to freelance full time a little over a year ago, Natalie has been captivated by Photography.
She mostly shoots fashion, but is also now focusing more on wedding photography.

She says "Although I will of course shoot any wedding, my very favourites are those with more thought put into the details and those with a quirky touch.
My background is in burlesque and pin-up photography and coupled with my experience in fashion, I am at my most happy shooting vintage and alternative-style weddings, such as this!"

Natalie recalls how she met Dawn "I 'met' Dawn through the wonder that is Social Media!
We have a mutual friend (the lovely makeup artist Ms Sali Moo) and I noticed a post she had written about her friend needing wedding suppliers urgently. I commented on the status and the rest, as they say, is history."

"Usually I prefer to meet couples prior to the wedding, either for a couples/engagement/save the date shoot or over a cup of tea and slice of cake to discuss all the fine details and image checklist, though due to the extreme short notice this alas wasn't possible on this occasion.
We did, however, converse at great length via email and phone conversation, which really helped to build a picture of Dawn & Robin's relationship and personalities."

The Big Day on September 11th 2011 was tinged with sadness due to loved ones passed, but still full of sunshine and smiles, although emotion was clearly palpable.

This thought is emphasised by the words of Natalie "The thing that stands out in my mind more than anything is how much laughter and many smiles there were on the day.
I know weddings are always a time for happiness, but at this gathering in particular my face was hurting by the end of it, never mind Dawn's & Robin's!"

"I was surprised at how calm Dawn was throughout the whole day, she looked absolutely stunning and beaming.
It really was a wonderful day and the atmosphere was completely relaxed, happy and full of love from the moment I got there to the very last image I snapped."

The lovely Bride Dawn continues the story,

How did you meet?

"We met at university about eight years ago. Rob was a full on punk with a Mohawk, and I had bright red hair and a few different piercings…We might look a little more ‘proper’ now, but we’re still just as full of mischief!"

When and how did you get engaged?

"We got engaged in October last year. We don’t tell anyone about how we got engaged, it’s our special secret!
In fact, we tell lots of different lies to people about where we were, and what we were doing and wonder how long it’ll take for them to clock that they’ve all got a different story…. Naughty!
Anyway, we saved it up as a little secret until Boxing Day, when both of our families came to our house for dinner and we announced it to them together."

Tell me about your Planning journey.

"Well, we basically didn’t really plan anything – we booked our venue for a couple of years away, knowing we had to save up loads of cash we didn’t have, and basically forgot about it.
But then in July, we found out that my Dad had cancer, so we decided to pull the wedding forwards so that he could walk me down the aisle."

"He loved Rob and we knew he would have loved seeing us get married, so it didn’t seem right to do it without him. So we called our venue and asked when the first date they could bring it forwards to was: it gave us six weeks to sort it out, mental!"

"So we basically gave a big plea for anyone that could help us, and we were shown so much kindness and generosity we couldn’t believe it."

"Our wedding planning reminds us of the Beatles song ‘ I get by with a little help from my friends’ – because that’s what it was. My dress was made by BooBooKittyCouture at a discounted rate; our flowers were done by a friend of a friend; my Godmother sorted the wedding cake; our bridesmaid Caroline and her boyfriend sorted out the car for us; the villagers did the flowers in the church; the vicar gave us as much of a discount as she legally could; we made the favours and the decorations ourselves; one of our friends treated me to having my bridal hair done; Natalie J Weddings gave us a lovely discount on our photography, and Ms Moo did the bridal make up as a gift – even the bell ringers and organist in the church pitched in for free!"

"It’s amazing what kindness you can be shown when you really need it; and having all these lovely people around us just ready to help out made our wedding feel even more special.
Still, regardless of how much everyone helped, organising it at six weeks notice meant planning was frantic. Sadly, Dad died two weeks before the wedding – but we still made him really happy trying."

"We had our wedding reception in my old house! It was amazing.
When I was a wee lass, she used to live in a two up two down that was part of a tumbledown country house split into lots of flats and maisonettes; all the grounds were a caravan park and an overgrown woods."

"Since then, a property developer came and spruced it up again, and now it’s suddenly a posh hotel, Kilworth House where they let us come and get married and other such grown up things.
My little sister died in a car crash last year, so it was nice to be somewhere that had a link to her too.We both thought it was a really lovely way of making us part of the same story, linking the past and the present."

Recently I have been so blessed to meet some lovely people in the Scottish Wedding Industry.
The Big Fat Scottish Tweet Up that I organised has put me in touch with so many talented and fabulous individuals, who in turn have become friends.

Today I would like to spotlight Lesley Devlin of Lomond Beauty who many will agree has magic fingers.

On the evening of the Tweet Up Lesley provided massages and pamper treatments that were completely relaxing and very welcomed.

I had a chat with Lesley about what she does.

What is it you do, and what services do you offer?

"I am an HND qualified Beauty Therapist offering a mobile beauty treatments to women across Glasgow and the west. My services include:-

When, and why did you start your business?

"My business, Lomond Beauty, was launched in September 2010.
After spending 16 years in various Retail management posts, where the most important consideration to the Companies was how much profit was generated, I decided that I wanted to do something which would help others and create job satisfaction for myself."

"Having experienced the pleasure of receiving beauty treatments in various salons, the thought of having to make my way home after being in a wonderfully relaxed and tranquil state, disturbed the equilibrium of my mind and body."

"It is for this reason I initiated Lomond Beauty where clients can experience all the benefits of visiting a salon without leaving their own home resulting in an increased feeling of well being and serenity."

What inspires you?

"Hmm......... I would have to say that I am inspired by people in particular people who have been dealt a raw deal who then, instead of giving up, go onto to prove to everyone that they can survive and prosper."

What has been your favourite assignment, and why?

"It’s hard to narrow this down to a favourite, but I suppose, my first event was most memorable.
It was with a fabulous local charity Fun First who held a ladies night to raise funds.
I went along and did waxing for the ladies.
It was both nerve-racking and satisfying but confirmed to me that the business I had chosen to enter into was absolutely the correct choice."

What’s your greatest achievement?

"Setting up Lomond Beauty after overcoming Post natal depression which I had suffered from for many years, and the belief that I could help women in similar situations through therapies."

"And of course, I am very proud of getting through to the finals of the Ice the Cake Wedding Awards"

What’s the future for your Business?

"I will have new ranges in skincare and nail care to be introduced in January which I am excited about!"

"I always want to be able to help women at home, as I feel there is a strong market for this.
However, in the future I would also like to have a salon where an unique beauty journey can be experienced as an alternative to therapy at home."

What Jack and Katie Did Next - The Wedding - Images by Karen Massey Photography.

Last week I shared the playful, flirty and completely gorgeous Engagement shoot of Jack and Katie by Karen Massey Photography.

Today I am thrilled to follow up with some images from their beautiful Vintage inspired Wedding on September 10th.

Karen shares her recollections of the Wedding morning,

"I arrived in Warwick to photograph Jack & Katie’s wedding at the Lord Leycester Hospital.
To tell you how excited I was to photograph their wedding would be an understatement."

"It all started for Jack with a game of Rugby in the “Tilted Wig” I learnt so much that morning about Rugby and you never know I may watch another game!" (Englands 1st match in Rugby World Cup)

"For Katie it all started in the “Warwick Arms Hotel” and when I arrived with Katie she was unwrapping a surprise gift from Jack and I can tell you there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
From that moment of tears I knew their day was going to be extra special and nothing disappointed.
There was LOVE everywhere, every little detail had been thought of."

"On arriving at the Lord Leycester Hospital where Jack & Katie had chosen to also take their vows, guests were greeted with a string quartet (Nero String Quartet).

Beautiful is the word!"

"Katie arriving for the ceremony with gorgeous blooms - flashes of pink, purple, blue and off-white, wrapped with vintage lace and studded with four pearls to match her stunning Temperley dress."

"Nothing more to be said than love in those eyes."

Today I delighted to share the work of the lovely Lynsey McLaughlin of Custom Cakes by Lynsey.

Lynsey is one of Glasgow's newest and most exciting Cake makers.
She specialises in cakes for any occasion; Weddings, Birthdays, graduations and any other celebration.
She also makes Cupcakes and cakepops which are enjoyable on their own, or ideal as lovely wedding favour.

She is based the south-side of Glasgow but caters throughout central Scotland.

I met Lynsey a few months ago at a Wedding Fayre, and have been delighted to get to know her. She also recently supplied some awesome Cakepops for The Big Fat Scottish Tweet Up and these went down a treat with the gathered guests.

I had a chat to Lynsey about her path into Business.

What is it you do?

"I am a professional cake maker specialising in designing bespoke cakes for each individual customer.
When it comes to wedding cakes I like to get to know each client over a cuppa (and some cake) to get a feel for their personalities, and their plans for the big day to ensure they get the cake meant for them.

"I started my business just over 1 year ago, and prior to that I was a chef for 13 years.
For 10 of those years I was a pastry chef in some of Scotland's most prestigious hotels and restaurants.
Cake decorating was a hobby I have enjoyed since I was a wee girl and one day I decided to take that hobby further and here I am.
It was a massive leap to take, but I am so glad I did!"

Where does your Inspiration come from?

"My biggest inspiration is my Mum, I used to bake with her when I was little and that's where it all began.
I also love working in the wedding industry, getting married is such an emotional event, and I love to make peoples ideas and dreams come to life with their cake, the excitement I see in them inspires me constantly."

What has been your favourite assignment, and why ?

"As well as doing wedding cakes I make cakes for all occasions and I do love making the novelty cakes as every one is different, however my favourite assignment hasn't actually happened yet.
I have a Tim Burton themed wedding cake booked for a lovely couple next year and I am so excited about it as I love doing the slightly out of the ordinary cakes, plus I am a huge Tim Burton fan myself!"

Whats your greatest achievement ?

"So far my greatest achievement has simply been taking the plunge and starting my own business, I have just passed the 1 year mark and I am looking forward to many many more!"

What are your plans for the future ?

"I have so many plans for the future, sometimes I can't sleep at night for all the ideas buzzing around in my brain!
At the moment I am focused on getting involved in as many events as possible to get the word out there about Custom Cakes. I love the fact that I already have repeat customers and I hope that one day Custom Cakes will be known across the whole of central Scotland!"

“Love is sweet….Everything Bling!” - Part 2 - The Wedding of Julie and Pharic - The Reception.

In Part 2 of Julie and Pharic's sweet love story we share the fabulous reception, and all the little details of the day, and especially the smiles, happiness and joy.
You can read about the Ceremony in Part 1.

After the ceremony the guests made their way back from Gretna, pausing to check into their hotels and freshen up before the reception.

They were greeted back at the house by an elegant and relaxed Drinks reception, and were served Canapes, Pimms and Champagne preceding the Wedding Breakfast.

A fabulous Champagne Balloon Arch by Balloons by Inspiridiation, who also created the balloon arches within the house

The lovely Wishing Tree, and the Post Box fashioned by the Groom that can now be hired alongside or seperately from the Candy Cart for any celebration.

Tell us about your Wedding Planning Journey [continued]

"The idea was to do as much of the planning as possible ourselves. I loved sourcing all the suppliers and planning the whole look and feel of the wedding."

"Our little saying that we worked round was “Love is sweet….everything Bling!”

"We wanted some unique features at the wedding so of course had the candy cart (that’s another story).
We used sweetie names for our table names, and gave little personalised cello bags of sweets, as favours, and these doubled up as our place name tags."

Julie used her own Business, "Julies Candy Cart" as a talking point and centrepiece on her Big Day.

"The “Bling” came from my allergy to flowers. I decided not to risk the bright red eyes on my wedding day. It was going to be a flower free zone, apart from the flowers outside of course."

"I found the perfect crystal bouquets online at “A Crystal Wedding” based in Swansea.
Sarah made the two most beautiful matching bouquets for my matron of honours and myself.
Cascades of Swarovski clear AB crystals with a touch of gold beads scattered throughout to complement the gold and silver in my wedding dress."

"I made the other accessories to match the bouquets, these included the men’s and ladies’ button holes, Ella’s magic wand, the table centre pieces, the cake topper and the table plan."

Why did you have an On the Day Co-ordinator ?

"The nature of the wedding with it being in our own home, so no venue coordinator at hand, I think, was the main reason.
To have someone there just to make sure the last minute detail was just so. To let suppliers in and make sure they set up as instructed, to welcome the guests with a drinks reception, organise canape service and the waiters/waitresses during the drinks reception.
To oversee that drinks were topped up and that things ran smoothly over all. Mainly to do the things that we thought we might not be able to allocate to other people to do."

"The things that were really appreciated and unasked like the encouragement and calming words when getting ready, and tidying round so our room looked immaculate for the ladies, who were to be using our ensuite bathroom, instead of it being strewn with clothes."

To continue the day the guests then enjoyed a sumptuous meal dually prepared by the fabulous Caterers, and Hog 2 Roast , followed by some rousing and emotional speeches.

Following the meal, the Bride had brought together a brilliant Treasure Hunt to occupy the Guests while the room was turned around for the Evening Reception.

Thereafter as Evening Guests arrived, the Evening Reception got underway with fabulous entertainment supplied by Geoff Nugent of Geoff Nugent and the Undertakers, accompanied by Rich Dugan from Pittsburgh USA.

A last word from Julie "It was a long exhausting journey to plan all that we wanted, but we got there in the end with help from friends and family. We are very lucky to have such talented people around us who gave their time and talent to us on our special day."

Love is sweet….Everything Bling!” - Part 1 - The Wedding of Julie and Pharic

In June this year I was thrilled to be involved in the Wedding of Julie Le Blanc and Pharic Smith.

I had met Julie at the tail end of last year through her amazing Business, Julies Candy Cart.

Julie's Candy Cart is a gorgeous colour coordinated Edwardian style cart, and an innovative twist on the Candy Buffet. Its an incredible, and eye catching centre piece for weddings or any special occasion/celebration.

Today I am really excited to share the story of how Julie and her husband met, their Wedding Planning journey and recollections of their lovely day with some beautiful images.

When and how did you get engaged?

"Pharic proposed to me as the bells rang in the New year 2008. This was down in Formby where I used to live while having a party at my house with close friends."

Tell me about your Planning journey

"We planned to marry in a hotel in the Lake District originally (a half way mark for my family being in Merseyside and his being in Glasgow) but after a fantastic engagement party at our house in Strathaven, with a hog roast and a live band, we re-thought our plans and decided on a re-run and to plan a DIY wedding at home."

"We looked into actually getting married in the garden but when we researched the civil ceremony licencing rules and regulations we decided it was a risk to apply.
We didn’t want to risk paying out the money for the application, then only to be turned down. It was a lot of money to loose when working to a budget."

"On one of our trips down to my mum’s in Merseyside, we stopped at Gretna Green.
We had a look around and realised that it was actually so easy to marry at Gretna.
All we had to do was pay the fee and it was all arranged for us.
We didn’t even have to arrange the registrar, they did that for us, and we were guaranteed one for the day and time that we wanted to marry."

"We didn’t like the feel of the blacksmith’s shop as we felt it was over commercialised and a little bit small, so we looked into different ceremony only venues.
That’s when we came across Anvil Hall. It was originally a Catholic church, very beautiful and grand. No longer a church, it is now used as a wedding venue and you can have a religious or a civil ceremony there. You get married by candle light over the anvil.
The civil celebrant even strikes the anvil at the end of the ceremony to seal the marriage."

So the date was set for the 4th of June 2011, a temperate day weather wise but boyed by the sunshine of the smiles that were abundant.

Julie started the day with some pampering and some mummy / daughter time.

Her daughter Ella was flower girl.

Just before leaving for Gretna Julie had the chance to take a breath and share the moment with her mum, and her son David who gave her away.

I had arrived at this time to continue the set up that Julie had started, and co-ordinate the suppliers that were arriving in her absence.

Julie continues her recollections from when her Vintage Car reached Gretna

"For one and a half hours the Anvil hall would be ours. We were able to add anything to the ceremony that we wanted. Pharic’s sister read a poem for us at the beginning of the ceremony and we read a poem to each other at the end."

"Our guests from down South and from Glasgow met us at Anvil hall for the wedding which was about a 2 hour journey for them."

This past January I was delighted to meet the lovely Sangeeta Laudus, co-owner of Olivier Laudus.
I had been speaking to Sangeeta for some time on Twitter, and it was amazing to meet her properly.
At our meeting I was able to see a few pieces from the Olivier Laudus cllections.

The Olivier Laudus online Bridal boutique was established in 2004 by husband and wife team Olivier and Sangeeta Laudus.
Olivier (formerly a stylist and model) designs some of the collection and manages the day to day running of the business.
Sangeeta works in the city as a lawyer, and helps with marketing and business development for the brand. Both Sangeeta and Olivier offer personal consultations to clients.

The Boutique offers three fabulous collections.

The Signature Collection is an exclusive collection of wedding accessories including luxury hand-beaded wedding ring cushions and guestbooks designed by Olivier.
These pieces can also be personalised making them lovely keepsakes.

In addition, there is a Boutique Collection of handpicked ready-to-wear gorgeous accessories which include stylish bridal bags, pearl and crystal jewellery, princess-style tiaras, vintage-inspired headbands, bejewelled decorative hair combs, dreamy flower clips, sparkly diamante monogram cake toppers and even ivory heart-shaped umbrellas.... and lots more!

We also enjoyed having the opportunity to meet our clients and give them personal attention and advice which is very key to our business.
Setting up a permanent base in the salon was the next logical step and we are really excited with our new venture and future collaborations with Jordan Burr."

Chic, stylish and in-keeping with the Olivier Laudus brand’s contemporary feel, the studio is decorated with flock wallpaper with a black and cream colour scheme and provides a lovely backdrop for the consultations. So far it has been well received by brides. Consultations are by appointment, with evening and weekend meetings available.

Supplier Spotlight - Love Created

Today I thrilled to shine the spotlight on the lovely Lyndsey McAuley of Love Created, a fabulous soap and skincare company.

Based in Johnstone, Scotland Lyndsey makes handmade natural Soap and Skincare, using the traditional 'cold process' using the finest butters and oils and essential oils.
Her soaps are left to cure for 4 weeks to create luxurious creamy bars, and she also makes Bath Bombs, Bath Melts, Lip Balms, Body Butters and Scrubs!

I met Lyndsey just a few months ago, and was delighted to have involved in my recent Event.
Here she shares about her Business, and her new offerings for Brides.

What is it you do, and what services do you offer ?

"I make handmade natural soap and skincare, my products include soap, bath bombs, lip balms, body butters and scrubs.
I use no harsh chemicals in anything I make, everything is extremely nourishing for your skin.
All of my products make fabulous unique wedding favours that can be fully customised to suit any wedding theme."

When, and why did you start your business ?

"I started making soap as a hobby about 3 years ago, I have very dry skin myself and find it very hard to find products that are kind to my skin that don’t cost the earth so I decided to do a bit of research and taught myself to make my own!
After making products for family and friends with great feedback, I decided to take it to the next level and start my own business. In November I will be celebrating my first year in business."

What inspires you ?

"Everything and everyone! I love meeting new people at the events and fairs I attend, hearing the feedback from happy customers knowing all the hard work and passion I have put in to the products which continues to inspire me to come up with new scents and products to suit a wider variety of people!"

What has been your favourite assignment, and why ?

"My own wedding! I am getting married next summer so I am well in to the swing of planning all those little details, it made sense to make my own wedding favours, and I am having lots of fun making lots of testers before we decide on the finished article!"

Whats your greatest achievement ?

"To date I cannot pin-point one particular greatest achievement, I have been lucky enough to be involved in several high profile events by providing products and favours for goodie bags including various Ladies Night events, and the Big Fat Scottish Tweet Up organised by Mrs Plans & Presents herself.
It is fantastic to be involved in such events and meeting other hard working people in the crafts & wedding industry."

Whats the future for your Business ?

"2011 has went off to a flying start with my website up and running, I have also attended lots of fairs and farmers markets.
I have recently started stocking my products in several gift shops and salons around the West of Scotland, and hope to continue to find new stockists.
If 2011 is anything to go by I cant wait to see what 2012 brings!"

Today I am delighted to spotlight the fabulous Steven McStravick of Gryffe Weddings.

Gryffe Weddings is a wedding videography company based in Bridge of Weir, Scotland.

I had a chat with Steven and he shares what he does.

What is it you do, and what services do you offer?

"At Gryffe Weddings, first and foremost, our main business is, and always will be wedding videography. Creating totally unique, stunning looking films, which couples will cherish, and watch over for years to come."

"We also specialise in filming all sorts of live events, and promotional videos.
With my design related background, having worked in the creative industry for 12 years, we are able to provide our customers help with any marketing, media, advertising and web design needs they have."

When, and why did you start your business?

"I've been filming weddings for around 4 years, starting out like most people, just doing them for friends. Gryffe Weddings in its current format was started around 2 years ago.
I decided to go full time with Gryffe Weddings at the start of this year. This was always my plan, it just felt like the right time to do it when I realised the amount of bookings I had coming up in 2011."

What inspires you?

"I am passionate about what I do, and it gives me genuine pleasure creating amazing looking, emotional films, that I know will make people laugh and cry with joy.
So I get inspiration from the thought of when I get feedback from couples saying how much they love their finished DVD."

"When I'm actually in the process of filming a wedding, its such a great feeling when you manage to get the perfect shot.
I'm constantly thinking of how its all going to edit together to make a great video. So by the time I get home, I've already got a rough edit done in my head!"

What has been your favourite video, and why?

"Over the last few years, I've been lucky enough to film in many amazing venues, and witness lots of fantastic marriages.
Its always great to film big, grand, lavish weddings, in luxurious settings. But for me, some of the most memorable ones have been the smaller, more intimate weddings.
Like Heath & Nat's wedding in the very remote Forter Castle in Perthshire. The castle is quite small, and there was only around 24 guests in total, so it felt like being invited into someone's home, rather than a wedding."

"There was also Rob & Rachael's wedding at Corsewall Lighthouse in Stranraer.
What I loved about that wedding was that it was totally unique, with a very vintage, retro feel to the day.
The ceremony was out on the cliff-side with a stunning view out to The Irish Sea, Northern Ireland and The Mull of Kintyre.
It was such a romantic setting, and that really comes across in the finished video."

Whats your greatest achievement?

"I feel that I have achieved a lot in my professional career so far. I've worked in a variety of creative jobs in the educational and design world.
In particular, I've worked on some amazing interactive projects in my time at Learning & Teaching Scotland ( http://www.ltscotland.org.uk/ ).
While working as Video Production Manager in the Glasgow design consultancy Midgibyte ( http://www.midgibyte.com/ ), I've worked on many short videos and animations that I'm really proud of."

As for Gryffe Weddings, the greatest is definitely still to come!

Whats the future for your Business?

"2011 has been the most amazing year so far, with the busiest summer ever.
We are constantly thinking of ways to provide a better service at Gryffe Weddings, and have a lot of big plans for 2012, to ensure our wedding videos continue to be among the best created in Scotland."

"As well as creating great wedding and promotional videos, we love to be able to go out and enjoy ourselves at any chance given.
So this winter, we're really excited to be able to announce our new big project; Merryoke.
After having such a good laugh filming Marryoke videos, and getting amazing feedback from everyone about how much fun they are to take part in.
We decided that we need to give everyone in Scotland an opportunity to star in their own Marryoke style video, without having to plan a whole wedding first."

"So Merryoke was born! ( http://merryoke.co.uk/ ) Its like Marryoke, but instead of filming it at your wedding, the filming takes place at your work Christmas party!
We just launched this new service a couple of weeks ago, and the initial response has been amazing! So that's what's going to be keeping us busy throughout the festive season. Which is handy, as winter tends to be a bit quieter for weddings."

Summer Flowers and Country Houses - The Wedding of Kristel and Wills - Images by PB Artworks

Today I am delighted to share the stunning Big Day of Kristel and Wills captured beautifully by Phil Barrett of PB Artworks.

Phil Barrett is the Creator and Founder of PB Artworks.

He started taking photographs many years ago for fun.
He then trained as a graphic designer, and an illustrator, and spent many years perfecting his artistic skills.
Eventually the camera became his canvas, the lens his eye and the world his subject, and now he follows his passion shooting Weddings and Portraits.

The couples detailed, sunny and emotional Big day took place at the Delbury Hall on 28th July 2011.

Delbury Hall is probably the most beautiful and imposing Georgian mansion in Shropshire and an extremely friendly and relaxed family home.

The house is surrounded by 80 acres of landscaped parkland and faces south across the water meadows towards Ludlow, 8 miles away.
Situated in beautiful Corvedale, between Much Wenlock and Ludlow, the Clee Hills and Wenlock Edge provide a picturesque backdrop.
The gardens are stunning, with ornamental lakes, wonderful herbaceous borders and rose gardens.
The Coach House has been recently been restored to the highest standards. Traditional materials, combined with clean lines and cutting edge design create an exciting ceremony and reception space with superb facilities.

And this wonderful backdrop provided a wonderful basis for designer Kristel to style.

Phil says of the day "Earlier in the summer I was delighted to be able to cover an old friends wedding…. Kristel and I go back a long way, and having worked alongside this talented designer for many years, I knew her wedding would be a feast for the eyes….a person of impeccable taste and a mean creative streak too."

"I was not, and neither were the guests, disappointed….as you will see below, she put all her talents into the wedding, and it looked amazing!!"

Todays Blog is a beautiful, playful and flirty Engagement Shoot from the lens of Karen Massey Photography.
Her belief is that her work is "Photography with Heart, and images with soul and passion."

Karen says "I’ve always been fascinated by photography, and when my first little girl was born it made me realise just how important it was to capture those special moments, all those things that light up your life at the time, turning a brief moment into eternity to pass back to my children when they are older, a reality to not drift by and fade but to stay as strong as the day it happened.
What started off as a hobby became a passion. and so thats what I do, creating images from the heart that capture the moment, from a Brides smile, the essence of a family to the unique personality of your business."

Karen shot the Engagement Shoot of Jack and Katie earlier in the summer, and she shares her recollections,

"I have to tell you my favourite type of photography is all things “bride & beautiful”
Now by saying that I’m not leaving out the groom, or the guests or any single one of those little details that you have been planning since the day you said “I Do!”
The reason for my passion of wedding photography is (and I mean what I’m saying here with all my heart) – I feel truly honoured that a Couple have chosen me to be part of their celebration."

"Now when Jack & Katie asked me this very question I didn’t hesitate to say “it would be an absolute pleasure,” and from that moment on I immersed myself into every part of every detail, I mean lets face it, this is what you have spent your entire engagement life thinking about and I also want to know every little detail, I don”t want anything to be left out."

When I heard all about what Jack & Katie had planned, I can tell you it was AMAZING.
I generally cant wait until the Wedding Day to see how my couples are with each other in front of a camera, so I do offer a pre-wedding shoot."
"So off I go to meet Jack & Katie, and I can tell you right now that the weather didn’t look good but whats a bit of rain, after all (not putting a dampener on things!) – it could actually rain on your wedding day and I want to show you that it doesn’t matter!"

"BUT it didn’t rain, it was lovely and romantic and everything that a pre-wedding shoot should be.
We met up at Chesterton as this is very close to Katie’s heart, with the beautiful corn field looking its best the pictures just come alive.
I think you will agree, Jack & Katie are very much in Love, everything was very natural and we had fun and laughter with emotion inbetween."

Its relaxed at its very best and emotion oozes from each photograph, and what a stunning location.
