First Light is an Edinburgh-based wedding photography company. They love capturing weddings in a non-obtrusive, friendly manner, producing beautiful, timeless images.
Ditte shares her recollections of the Wedding day on 14th July 2008.
"I first met up with Michelle and Michael in the run-up to the wedding to chat through the day and look at the venue with them. They were both really friendly and so easy to get on with.
They were both keen to have the story of the day documented without too much interference from the photographers and without the photos taking over the day, which suited us perfectly!
Neither of them were fazed by the fact that I would be 8 months pregnant at their wedding either, which was a big relief!"
"Michelle and Michael had planned their big day really well, with lots of great touches.
The setting was Loretto school in Musselburgh and they had asked one of the pupils from there to play the bagpipes, and two others to perform a traditional highland dance for the guests.
They also had a harpist playing during the drinks reception."
"We used the grounds of Pinkie House for our photo shoot with the couple. Michelle and Michael were so clearly completely mad about each other, which made it so easy and so much fun to photograph them!
Michelle looked stunning in her Manuel Mota gown from Eleganza Sposa."
Michelle and Michelle also share their story.
Michelle said "A very good friend of mine had met Michael, and thought it a good idea to introduce him to me.
We met in a pub in Kimberley, South Africa and the next night he took me out for dinner and it went from there."
The Groom Michael says of his proposal "I asked Michelle to marry me on the morning of 5th April 2008, my Birthday. Michelle's response was the greatest present I ever got!"
"We both wanted just our closest friends and family with us on our day.
We wanted to enjoy our day but also make sure our guests had a great time too."
"We had some wonderful friends who helped out with flowers and decorations and made the cake etc. It was about simplicity, but special to us..."
"We had a marquee in a walled garden on a beautiful, warm summer's evening.
Our colours were basic black and white. Tables were laid with white linen, white lilies and candles."
"I'm South African so wanted to introduce a little something from home so we had a Lamb spit braai (roast) We also had lots of wine and many amazing memories came from that night. We were catered for by Heritage Portfolio.
"Our photographers were First Light - I searched the web for hours trying to find a photographer. There are so many out there that it can get a little over-whelming.
An acquaintance recommended First Light Wedding Photography having used them for her own Wedding."
"We looked at their website and arrange to meet Ditte, who knew exactly what we were after.
I was so impressed with them taking the time to come out to meet and talk with us. They kept in contact leading up to our wedding and really took to heart what we said we wanted and didn't want."
"I throughly enjoyed being photographed by Ditte and Chris, and I absolutely love our photographs.
We have had such wonderful feedback from family and friends about our photos too. I would recommend First Light Wedding Photographers to anyone and for any purpose."
Thanks to Ditte for sharing this very relaxed and elegant Big Day.
The theme running through is timeless and I love how they intermingled their backgrounds with the Highland dancers and by using some traditional South African recipes.
