Kristin Mitchell of Struve Photography, Sonia of Gioia Mia and Wendy of Flossy and Dossy came together in this gorgeously styled shoot to to share some Vintage inspiration.
Kristin, who shot these stunning images said, "The idea behind the shoot came after a photoshoot I did in Uddingston, last autumn when I borrowed dresses from Flossy and Dossy.
As well as designing gorgeous every day wear, Wendy from Flossy and Dossy are also able to design and create unique wedding dresses and bridal wear."
"We wanted to showcase some gorgeous dresses that weren't all about floor length salmon pink taffeta!
Gioia Mia joined in, by providing her delicate, but well-matched jewellery and headbands which complemented Flossy and Dossy's dresses perfectly.
The shoes were bought and adapted by Flossy and Dossy, while the bouquets... well, those were my handicrafts!"
Wendy said of her part in the shoot "It gave me the opportunity to devise a collection of my own designs that would appeal to the modern bride – the woman looking for something distinctive – but retain the strong vintage styling that influences much of my work."
"My inspiration came from old movies, and how actresse's carries themselves with such poise and sophistication. For this shoot, most of the gowns featured were influenced by Grace Kelly, a remarkably graceful and stylish screen presence; I can picture her descending a staircase wearing the classic white wedding dress, or perhaps wearing the champagne lace and taffeta dress, walking arm-in-arm with Cary Grant."
"I also wanted to incorporate extra design features to make the dresses stand out. To achieve this I added handmade fabric flowers to necklines or vintage style ribbon belts."
"All the dresses have been made with a taffeta base, a wonderful, light fabric that's also very comfortable to wear and is not as heavy as traditional bridesmaid fabrics, ensuring that the wearer – whether bride or bridesmaid – looks and feels light on her feet."
Gioia Mia create exquisite bespoke jewellery and accessories (tiaras, combs, hairpins...). Pieces are worn by brides all over the world and designs are featured regularly in The Scottish Wedding Directory.
Sonia said of her part in the shoot "I was really excited when photographer Kristin contacted me to see if I was interested in taking part in a photoshoot that she was organizing."
"The shoot was called 'Bridesmaids Revisited', and focused almost entirely on dresses, jewellery and hair accessories for the bridesmaid."
"My part was as accessory supplier and the shoot showcased pieces from my Semplice, Duo, Rococo and Nuvola Collections."
Thank to all for letting me share these wonderful images shot in such a stunning location.
I adore the simplicity and delicacy of the jewellery, ofset against the boldness of the dress designs and shown in such strong vibrant imagery !
