"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are."
As my daughter sang this the other evening, it gave me an idea or a few.
For a little kids party you could use this scenario.
Little Twinkle Star has got lost and is far away from his friend Luminara, the Moon after chasing Little Whizz, the Comet.
To get back to his friend, Little Twinkle has to complete some steps [ party games]
These could include
-Pass The Moonrock [ like pass the parcel]
-Pin the "Coma" on the Comet [ like pin tail on donkey]
-The Moon says [ like Simon Says]
-Musical Craters [ like musical bumps]
You could also have a craft corner
-making Star Pictures
- making star wands etc.
To decorate the room
- Drape dark coloured organza from corners of the room to create the effect of sky
- Above this have twinkle lights attached to room to give the impression of starlight twinkling through
-Make moon, star and planet pictures and secure them to walls
- A planet mobile could be made from paper mache or aluminium foil balls of differing sizes. This could be secured from the roof.
- star balloons
- star table confetti for the banqueting table
Food could include
- fairy cakes with little star garnish
- A moon crater cake
-filled pavlova cases [individual pavlovas look like little craters]
- Marshmallows look like little moon rocks
- flying saucer sweeeties
Invitations could be handmade with little star adornments to invite each guest on a journey to find the moon.
For an older child's party there could be several choices
-A visit to a planatarium
or
An astronomy party
If inside the decoration can be similar to the younger child but can take on a spaceman theme rather than little star.
Games can focus on discovering about the planets or a journey around the solar system
For an outside party, weather is a big factor as it has to be dry and have a reasonably clear sky.
Each child needs
- a sleeping bag
- A pair of binoculars [ and instruction on how to use properly]
- A hand out or an age appropriate book that shows all the constellations
-The party needs to be timed to see the stars at their best so add in a sleepover as peak viewing time is later in day [ about 10pm]
Make a prize for best explorer of the stars
- a personalised certificate
- a planetarium subscription
- a special book
Hope these ideas help you out with your childs party

A Successful Day and a bit of a Natter !!!
Yesterday was all about work progress.
Went to view 29 Exchange Square. It is an exclusive private members club in the centre of Glasgow.
www.29glasgow.com
The wedding I am arranging at the moment is very small with only 9 guests so an intimate venue was needed.
The club do a Private Dining option so you are in a beautifully decorated private room overlooking the Square.
As I expected it was very grand and is now booked for the function.
I then went to view the couples and their families accomodation, book their hair appointments and see the florist.
All in all a successful day !
Today back down to earth with routine "houseworksmousework" whilst entertaining my brood but tonight I get to go and network at a Woman In Business meeting in the City centre.
It has been off over the summer but will now have a packed programme till next June.
It is really nice to meet other like minded women who are at the same or similar stage as you in the build up of their business.
That, and the nibblies !!!

Wedding Hair
Just when you thought there was enough pressure, the burning question comes up, what do I do with my hair ?
There's so much choice out there and wading through bridal magazines and the internet can make you giddy. It's the most important day of your life and there are some beautiful looks around but remember you need to choose a style that suits your dress and your personality.
There are no clear trends in hair styles, although wearing the hair in long romantic waves or loosely pulled back are popular with brides with long hair.
The key to creating gorgeous bridal styles if you have short hair is being willing to embrace your hair's best features, whether it is straight, wavy or curly hair.
Hair ornaments such as hairpins, brooches, and flowers are popular, as well as the tiara or fascinator.
Make sure you TRUST your hair stylist and ALWAYS have a trial. You may have a picture in your mind of how you see your wedding hairstyle but your hair may not suit the style or the type of hair you have may not work with that particular design.

Diary of a Fat Bride!
My new friend, Rosie became an inspiration to brides across the nation today when her blog, Diary of a Fat Bride was picked up by the Daily Record.
It is featured in a double page spread in today's paper.

Scottish Wedding Exhibition
Well, my first Wedding Exhibition is all over and it was an interesting and eye opening experience being on the other side.
I spoke to some really lovely people and I hope to meet them all again in the next few months in the run up their Wedding Day.
I also got to talk to a lot of great suppliers and those I would like to give special mention to are Elaine Lamont, a freelance florist who works with her daughter Ruth.
Being freelance they come to your house or venue at your convenience which makes it much easier for working brides and parents. They create fabulous traditional and modern designs to perfectly complement your colours. They are based in Beith.
See their website : www.elainelamont.co.uk
I would also like to a shout out to Jo and Krystyna at Cake Sensations, they make the best cakes EVER.
Their sponge cake is so moist, I had to practically sellotape my lips to stop going back for more.
They are based in Bridge of Weir.
See their website at www.cakesensations.net
For Balloons and Chair Covers , there is Balloons by Carmor. They are a lovely bunch of girls and a guy who create brilliant balloon designs and lovely chair coverings with a selection of organza and satin sashes. They are based in Paisley.
See their website : www.balloonsbycarmor.co.uk
For a selection of stunning selection of Invitations and matching stationary , consider Carnegie Livett Designs. Lovely girls who are really talented at what they do.
www.carnegielivettdesigns.co.uk
And a final shout out goes to Dougie at Madison Wedding Band, he had me laughing all the way through the show. Madison is available to hire as a band or in combination with their new DJ service or the DJ service on its own, gauranteed to have your reception rocking.
Their next preview eveing is on the 23rd of September at the Redhurst Hotel in Giffnock at 7.30pm.

I am now looking forward to next Sunday to the Stilring Wedding Show. It is the first Wedding Show in the Albert Halls and I hope it shall be one of many.

Marryoke anyone ?
In the U.S.A, it's called the Wedding Lip Dub but in the U.K, Marryoke is a trend fast gaining popularity.
What is it?
Marryoke is an alternative style of wedding video shot at your wedding where the bride and groom choose a song to perform where they star in the leading roles and their guests as the chorus.
It certainly adds fun factor to your wedding and a chance to just go crazy after all the formalities are over.
So how does it work?
Well first of all your couple needs to find a videographer who offer this service. Then choose a song and make sure the lyrics are sent to all the people in the bridal party who will be starring in the video, prior to the wedding day.
The videographer should then sit down with the bridal couple to bounce about some ideas on how they can incorporate it into their big day.
From there it is all done on the wedding day itself.
And it doesn't matter if you sing out of tune, because the videographer will dub the original track over the video making it look as though you are all rock legends!
You will find that there will be people unsure about the concept but it can turn out to be a real icebreaker in bringing two families together and the end result is just great !
Here are some examples
